NCRF and Garey High School Hosts Inspiring Black History Bowl

On February 18, 2026, Garey High School proudly hosted its annual Black History Bowl, bringing together African American high school students from across the district for a day of knowledge, empowerment, and inspiration.

Students participated in an engaging trivia competition that celebrated Black history, culture, achievements, and contributions. The competition showcased impressive teamwork and academic excellence, with Pomona High School earning top honors and taking home the title as this year’s Black History Bowl Trivia Champions.

In addition to the trivia competition, students had the opportunity to hear from two impactful Q&A panels. The first panel featured former PUSD graduates who shared their personal college journeys — offering insight into campus life, overcoming challenges, and staying focused on academic goals. Their stories provided valuable advice and relatable encouragement for students preparing for their own post-secondary paths.

The second panel spotlighted influencers and gamers who discussed how they successfully broke into the marketing industry. They shared real-world experiences about branding, content creation, networking, and turning passion into career opportunities in today’s digital landscape.

The Black History Bowl was more than a competition — it was a celebration of identity, achievement, and future possibilities. Garey High School is proud to host events that uplift, educate, and empower students to envision and pursue their goals with confidence.
