Educational Programs
Mt.SAC Programs
Junior and senior students registered full time in classes at district high schools may take courses for credit at Mt. San Antonio College. A student should complete the recommendation letter available from the counselor as soon as possible prior to the semester he/she plans to attend. Course credit may be earned for high school graduation or used toward completion of two-year occupation or four-year degree programs at Mt.SAC. Three Mt. SAC units equal ten high school credits. There are three programs at Mt.Sac that will help you earn high school and college credit. SEE THE COUNSELOR!
CAL-SAFE Child Development Program(CAL-SAFE CDP)
TheCAL-SAFE Child Development Program (CDP) helps teens with the special problems of being both parents and students. Pregnant and parenting students attend classes in the standard curriculum as determined by existing credits. They also attend a special class in teen parenting. Students meet with the CAL-SAFE CDP teacher for theory and class discussions. Day care is provided on campus in the infant and toddler centers. Students are encouraged to work in the day care centers as part of their lab work.
Home School
Home school, the situation where a teacher comes to your home to deliver instruction, is available for students with medical/health problems resulting in the student's inability to attend school. All home school arrangements are made through the school nurse with consultation of the school counselor and/or the assistant principal.
Regional Occupation Program (ROP)
The San Antonio Regional OccupationProgram (ROP) was formed as a joint venture of the Bonita and Pomona SchoolDistrict. It is designed to serve the vocational training needs of our youths. ROP students learn the attitudes, knowledge and skills needed to succeed in the employment world. Each course is worth 5 credits or more. Class locations may vary and are held after school or in the evening.
General Work Experience Education
This program is a combination of related work experience education and paid employment designed to assist the student in acquiring desirable work habits and attitudes. Students will be referred to job opportunities when possible.
Working students must have a work permit on file with the work experience teacher. Students should see the MediaTechnician in the library or the work experience teacher during scheduledhours.
Seniors in their last semester can earn ten (10) credits.
APEX Lab
Achievement Prevention and Excellence (APEX) is a drop-out prevention program that can significantly narrow the achievement gap and lowers the drop-out rate. Through APEX, students under the guidance and support of qualified teachers can make-up classes on-line for original or make-up credits. This is providing that they complete a certain amount of academic seat hours on-line. Park West and PAS@PW offer anumber of A-G approved courses that students can take.
